U4GM Modern Warfare 4 Firing Range Testing
#1
Modern Warfare 4's Gunsmith is easier to understand once you stop treating every attachment as a straight upgrade. The real question is what you want the weapon to do, and MW4 Boosting should never replace learning that role for yourself. The Beta offered an early look at the system, but its numbers were never a promise of the launch version. With the full release scheduled for October 23, 2026, players should focus on the structure of progression rather than memorising temporary damage values or recoil patterns.

Build Around the Fight You Expect

Start with distance. A close-range weapon benefits from quick aiming, clean movement, and fast target switching. A rifle meant for open lanes needs steadier recoil and better control during longer bursts. Trying to improve everything at once usually leaves you with a weapon that feels average everywhere. Gunsmith includes optics, lasers, barrels, muzzles, underbarrels, stocks, rear grips, ammunition, and magazines, so there is plenty of room to shape a build around your habits. You will notice the trade-offs quickly. A heavier setup may settle the gun, but it can also make the first shot feel slower.

Test Every Change Properly

The Firing Range is where your build should earn its place. Fire the unmodified weapon first, using the same distance and target each time. Add one part, then repeat the test. That small routine tells you far more than a row of stat bars. Sometimes an attachment looks impressive on paper but makes the weapon awkward in a real fight. Other times, a modest handling improvement is exactly what helps you win the second shot. Keep the changes simple while testing. If you add five parts together, you will not know which one helped or caused the problem.

Plan for Apex Progression

Apex Attachments sit apart from the usual Gunsmith slots. Based on the Beta information, supported weapons unlocked them after reaching full weapon progression, and they offered new ways to use the gun rather than minor numerical adjustments. Examples included alternate Hyeon modes, the M4 Hurricane conversion, ISO Trace, and the PPSh-41 Ember underbarrel option. These choices can shift a weapon into a different role. That is why it makes sense to learn one main weapon properly before spreading time across the whole armoury. Unlock its standard parts, understand its recoil, and then decide whether its Apex option suits the way you actually play.

Use Gunny as a Starting Point

Gunny can suggest a build from the attachments you have already unlocked, which is handy when the menu starts to feel crowded. Treat the suggestion as a first draft. Take it into the Firing Range, keep the parts that feel right, and replace anything that slows you down. Launch requirements and weapon tuning may change after the Beta, so check the live game before committing to a long progression plan. Players who want outside help can also buy CoD MW4 Boosting while still taking time to understand each weapon's strengths, because a completed unlock path matters far less when the build does not fit your style.
