How much difference does the age of a streaming device make?

I've got an older Android box that still works, but I'm wondering whether older hardware can struggle with newer HD/4K streams.

At what point would you guys consider upgrading?

I'd upgrade if the device is regularly struggling, crashing or taking ages to load things.

You don't necessarily need the newest device, but older hardware can definitely become a bottleneck, especially when you're trying to run higher-resolution content.
